Below are just some of the activities that this island offers to keep you busy on your vacation. Golfing, windsurfing, tennis, scuba, white water rafting, fishing and many more activities to keep you busy. That's not to say if you wish just to relax and enjoy the sunshine and tropical drink you can do that as well.

Aerial view of the Playa Dorda complex with it's 15 major hotels and over 5000 rooms.

This is Playa Calton beach near the small town of Rio San Juan. A beautiful quiet beach to spend an afternoon with a fresh beach lunch of fish or lobster.

An aerial view of the Playa Grande golf course. It is compared to Pebble Beach Golf Course in California for it beautiful cliff side ocean location.

From the 7th tee on the golf course you can look down on the Playa Grande beach. They also serve a fantastic beach lunch of fresh fish, shrimp or lobster.

Caberette beach is known as the windsurfing capital of the Caribbean. It has lots of upscale accommodations and fine restaurants.

The windsurfers have the east end of the beach & the kitesurfers have the west end. They need traffic cops because one day I counted over 120 surfers out on the bay.

Sosua beach from the west end looking towards the el Batey side with all the restaurants & hotels.

Sosua on a sunday is a very busy place. Very popular with the Dominicans who come from as far away as Santiago to enjoy a day at the beach.

Sosua vendors line the beach front and the road leading to the beach. Lots of competition makes for good deals if you are a good barginer. A good place to start is 50% of what is ask.

Mt Isobela is the back drop for the Robert Trent Jones golf course in the Playa Dorada complex.

Luperon harbor is a favorite of the boaters because of the protection it gives because of the surrounding hills. One day this will be a spot that will rival any in the Caribbean for a boating destation.

Get out of the all-inclusives and take is some local culture. Here is a Dominican mother bathing her sons in a small river. We were having a picnic there that day ourselves.

These are all-inclusive hotels and they want to keep you on their beaches and advise against going off site.
